Just as in English, in Spanish there are nouns that name one thing (singular nouns), and nouns that name more than one thing (plural nouns) To make a singular noun plural, all you need to do is to look at the last letter in the word. Why? Because, Spanish singular to plural are formed by adding specific ends to the nouns. So, in this lesson you will find the basic rules for making nouns plural in Spanish. If the word ends in a vowel (a,e,i,o,u), just add the letter "s" at the end of the word. For nouns that end in these specific stressed vowels: í and ú we may add both "es" or "s" If the word ends in a consonant we must add "es" at the end of the word to make it plural.
